Dein Projekt: Harry’s Black on Black NC1

3. August 2019

I bought my 1.8 2007 MX5 NC1 in 2016. I won’t lie, I was originally looking for an NA to join the famed pop up gang, but after a solid year of searching for a solid shell it was time to move the search on, and personally I’m not a fan of the styling of the NB, so I arrived at the NC. After having “1 careful lady owner”, I have added a lot of extras, accessories and modifications over the last 3 years to make it my Black on Black NC1.

It’s been a great 3 years, ups and downs with the build butit’s at a great place now and I still have plans with it.

Also what a great community the MX5 owners have built allaround the world, from local meets, to NC Europe and Team Boat in the UK.People are always on hand to offer advice and help out whatever the issue is.

Over the 3 years I’ve had it, it’s been T boned by anotherdriver, grounded out on a ditch, and generally struggles to get over speedbumps but I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Anyway, enough of me rambling on, the spec list is comingup, but if you want to see me check my insta – @hp_mx5

Dein Projekt: Lady_Elvis’ Spark

1. August 2019

Hi Project Mx5 Germany!

Most of u will know me as Lady_Elvis on Instagram. I have always appreciated the aesthetics of cars ever since I was young. My love for cars started with 50’s-60’s American classics and also 50’s – early 70’s Le Mans cars/ Euro classics. I didn’t really get into the JDM scene until I bought my Miata, who I named Spark. Spark is a very happy 1990 MX-5 who gets all the attention in car parks and driveways.

When I bought Spark, he was already this greyish blue colouras the previous owner painted it a Kia Steel Blue Metallic. But underneath,he’s really just a Smurf.

I knew I wanted to change the appearance of the interior assoon as I drove him home. I didn’t like a lot of the pieces in the interior andmy centre console REEKED of cigarettes.

The main thing that inspired me to make Spark the way he is right now is this Japanese bleach bottle. I saw a photo of it on Tumblr 5-6 years ago and couldn’t find the picture of it for the longest time. I finally found it on my trip to Japan this year.

People like to sit in my car and find all of the little“easter eggs” inside. Every time u see my interior, there’s somethingnew. Most of my pieces are either customized, or they’re completely custom-like my centre console.

I am a firm believer in the fact that if it’s cheap and itworks, then it’s a good mod. I disagree with a lot of the people in the carcommunity who say that certain brands suck just because they’re cheap or arereplicas. Of course, there are certain replica brands that I will never buyfrom because they are bad quality and unsafe, but there are also a lot of goodbrands out there for people who don’t want to spend a fortune. My exhaust isfrom Yonaka and most people don’t even realise- because it doesn’t sound bad.It only cost me $200 CAD shipped and I am very happy with it. People who onlyassociate themselves with certain brands or certain cars are not trueenthusiasts.

I am very pleased with what I have done with my Miataaesthetic wise and hope to start modding under the hood very soon.

Mod list:

  • Yonaka exhaust
  • TEIN Street Basis Z Coilovers
  • Racing Beat High Flow Air Intake
  • Aodhan wheels (AH05, I think?)
  • Beatrush rear tow hook
  • Ebay clear turn signal lights
  • Ebay ducktail
  • Custom centre console
  • Reupholstered OEM driver’s seat
  • Likewise shift knob in Lil Oozy
  • Heart steering wheel
  • LRB Speed door cards

Dein Projekt: Mico’s froggy Miata

15. Juni 2019

I’ve received a new build story – Mico’s froggy Miata. Have a look and get inspired!

I bought it in 2016 and it was sitting outside in the middle of a forest and had been there for 2 years before I bought it. It was rusted and had a blown engine.

Over the next 2 years (2016-18) I build it to be a show car originally, but then I fell in love the way it handled and started to drive it daily. Soon it was more of a street car then a show car.

Now after almost 3 years of owning it it has become a more of a street car, but the final plan is to make it a racecar that is fully street legal. So far the looks are almost done in that part. Aggressive aero and close to ground. It’s still missing a big chassis mount wing and a hardtop. What comes to the racing thing, it still needs a roll bar to be save at the track. As soon as I get one I’ll start to take it to track days. Performance vise it’s still unfortunately stock. The plan is to make 250-300hp next year. After that I’ll build another engine to hold 400-500hp.

So it was a show car, then a street car and now it’s slowly evolving into a street legal racecar. You wouldn’t be able to tell it’s the same car if you wouldn’t know it. It has come a long way in 3 years and will go a long way before it’s the way want it to be and imagined it to be. It’s really just a small car trying to fight big boys in the Finnish car scene and on Instagram but it’s offering a hell of a fight. It’s standing tall among giants.

Moin zusammen!

    • Türpanele aus Aluminium made by CageDude
    • Vollschalen OMP-Sitze mit H-Gurt-System
    • Die Schroth-Gurte mussten den Sparco-Gurten Platz machen
    • Gurtrohr made by CageDude (für alle Schweizer DTC angefertigt)

Dein Projekt: Jackson’s Colored in Light MX5

30. März 2019

Hi,

My car is a 2011 Mazda MX5 Miata NC2. I got the car in 2015as a base sport model. I always had aspirations to own an MX5 and being that Imodify all my cars, I had high standards for what I wanted to do. I’ve driventhis car all over the country and enjoyed every second of it.

I thought I had my car where I wanted it. (Photo with bluecar) That was until I was sideswiped by another driver. And then also had afender bender thereafter. I cannot stand having something broken that needsfixing. So after a while I chose to go with the Rallybacker fender flares. Icut out the damaged area and used stainless steel rivets to attach. This cameout great but the wheel fitment was lacking.

Over time I added things like custom angel eyes and LEDbulbs. But I really was searching for wheels. I finally found a set of wideEnkei RPF1 wheels in silver finish. Matched with a set of Riken Raptorperformance tires, they fill out the front and rear fenders, BARELY. The carhas a while to go still from I initially imagined but it’s very close. I wantedsomething reliable and could hit the country roads each weekend and I think sofar have accomplished that.

Mod List:

  • 17×9 Front, 17×9.5 Rear Enkei RPF1
  • 255/40 Front, 275/40 Rear Riken Raptor UHP Tires
  • Tein Flex Z Coilovers
  • RX8 Yellow Dot Front/Rear Sway Bars
  • Stoptech Slotted Rotors, HPS Pads
  • Stainless Steel Brake Lines and Clutch Cable
  • Singular Motorsports Hood Louvers
  • Innovated Dynamics Ducktail Spoiler
  • OEM Appearance Front Lip
  • NA/NB Side Skirts
  • Rallybacker Fender Flares
  • OBX Catless Header and Midpipe
  • Roadster Sport Single Race Muffler
  • Dynotronics ECUTek Tune
  • LED/Angel Eye Custome Headlights

Also please stop by at the Youtube channel. I have videos on everything I’ve done:www.youtube.com/channel/UCCXSLEuxjfscL1znccHxTyQ

(The first photo to start with is the picture with my car and the blue NB. After that should be the accident photo. Then rallybacker fenders, then angel eyes and all images with Enkei RPF1 – for the timeline. )

Thies Wunder

Dein Projekt: Ryan’s V8 Miata

6. März 2019

The car started out as a 1990 Miata that I bought in 2009.

I daily drove the car for a few years with just some coil overs, wheels, 1.8 brake upgrade, and a VLSD. After getting bored with it, I decided that I would turbo it. So I built a manifold, downpipe, and exhaust. I also built the rollcage in the car so I could start racing it. For the engine I did a full built bottom end 1.6, the head was left untouched, running on a MegaSquirt.

The car made 359whp and 308ft/tq. It was fun, and I drove it and tracked it for about a year, but like all things car related, you get used to things and bored with them. So it was on to a v8, but I wanted to do something that hadn’t been done at the time.

Build a 1000whp Miata, so it was going to have to get a turbo.

Unfortunately that goal was beat by Mad Mikes rotary drift Miata. But I kept on. I stripped the car down, added some more areas of attachment to the rollcage bringing it out of the firewall and to the front frame rails. I got a subframe from V8Roadsters and started building from there. I never intended on running the T56 like everyone else did. I wanted something stronger, faster shifting, smaller, easy to change gearsets.

So I picked up a Tex Racing T101 4 speed transmission. I built the transmission cross member and the Ford 8.8 differential mount. I run a spooled rear end, with custom Drive Shaft Shop axles. The engine is a stock 4.8/5.3 iron block Cheverolet Gen III, other than an oil pump it has been completely stock and unopened, and at 23 psi it made 720whp.

I installed new valve springs, push rods, and upgraded rocker arms for the next event. I also upgraded from the factory ignition coils to a better Holley Smart coil.

I feel like I could write a novel on this thing, and I guess that is what happens when you do everything yourself, you end up with so many stories, failures, success, and meet a lot of new people.

Spec list would be:

  • 1990 Miata
  • Chevy gen III small block
  • 88 mm single turbo
  • McLeod twin disc clutch/billet flywheel
  • Tex Racing T101
  • Ford 8.8 IRS with many different gear options
  • Drive Shaft Shop axles
  • Wilwood 4 piston brakes
  • Wilwood pedal assemly
  • Wilwood master cylinders
  • Holley HP ECU
  • Holley coils
  • Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump
  • Aeromotive adjustable fuel pressure regulator
  • Autometer gauges
  • Hoosier slicks
  • Custom valved Tein coil overs
  • 949 Racing 15″ x 10″ 6ul wheels

The goal for April is to set the world record for the fastest Miata and to have the first Miata go over 200 mph.

Then after that its back to getting the car working like it should for time attack events. With one of my ultimate goals being the Pikes Peak hill climb with the car.

Dein Projekt: Greg’s Exocet Miata

22. Februar 2019

I startedthe build in early last year with the total build time being under 12 monthsfrom rolling MX5 to road certified turbo Exocet

I had ownedprevious street cars (Rx7 and STi Subarus) but wanted something different for anew build. Kit cars had always been on my radar, and on a recent trip to the UKI visited the Caterham factory and test drove other Lotus 7 replicas but Iwasn’t sold.. I then stumbled across a local NZ owner of an Exocet and arrangeda test drive.

The car wasa lot more spacious in the cabin and I found the look to be more my style thanthe Lotus 7, I was blown away by the handling and power from the much cheaperKitset.

I went ahead and ordered a kit from a local NZ manufacturer without delay.

I purchasedan 89 NA Mx5 as my donor and had planned on completing the kit without too manymodifications, but as the build progressed my mindset changed… I decided toturbo the stock engine and complete this before getting the car certified forroad use. The stock engines take the boost quite well and engines are readilyavailable, so this option was appealing over the cost of adding a forged engineto the list at the time.

While wewere ramping up the power from the engine, the focus remained on handling so westripped all the donor parts down and replaced all the parts we could frombushings to ball joints we could get our hands on.  This really paid offas the car felt like new when driving it for the first time.

Fromdelivery of the frame to the completion of the build in under 7 months, itstill felt like the main progress all pulled together in the last 4 weeks… Thebody panels really sealed the look of the car with the wrap being completedjust a day or two before driving onto the trailer.

We breezedthrough the road cert and have been enjoy the New Zealand summer for the pasttwo months, but with all fresh builds there were some initial teething issues. That being said, the car has covered 2000kms + and it’s one of the best carsand experiences I’ve ever owned/had.

Dein Projekt: Dan’s Itasha Miata

18. Februar 2019

Dein Projekt: Webster’s white fear

8. Januar 2019

I have always loved the MX5 and have been lucky enough to own 3 amazin examples. Firstly a pristine MK2.5 1,8 vvti with only 16k miles, then the very rare M2 1001 #62 which was an amazing car. However a deal with Miataland owner Andrea was done and I sold the car. I then decided I wanted to go turbo with this being the outcome listed below. That’s the complete spec which has made the car one of the most well balanced cars I have driven and likes to regularly scare super cars. The car is styled as a retro racer with some design cues from the M2 1001. It has been built to be useable on the road or track. It now has reliable 300Bhp and with the lightweight parts the car is a true driver’s experience.

Dein Projekt: Peter’s Tribute Miata

2. Januar 2019

My wife encouraged me to buy a ‘90 Mariner blue Miata in 2015 as a tribute to my brother who had recently lost his battle with cancer.  He was a key source of my lifelong passion for cars.  In Feb ‘89, he and I marveled at the MX5’s Chicago unveiling and knew it was a brilliant antidote to what his ‘78 Fiat Spider failed to deliver beyond the top down fun.  He finally got to enjoy that reality in Lola, the Montego blue which was his last car.  We’ve now added two more NA’s to our collection.  One for my wife (a mint 100% stock Sunburst with 43k miles) so I could extensively modify the smurf along with a 91 BRG that I let my 18 year old son drive.  The Miata community is now an integral part of my life and I’ve been to London, Japan, Laguna Seca and beyond with this crazy little Roadster tribe of ours.

I’ve been privileged to thank Tom (Matano) in person several times for his gift to all of us.

Dein Projekt: Christian‘s Ghetto Porsche

28. Dezember 2018

Dein Projekt: Tom’s Trackday Miata

2. Dezember 2018

My name is Thomas aka Tom, 33 years old and living in France. I’m an industrial technician, and driver/car mechanic of my white turbo NA (1993).

I discovered the miata and the trackday experience thank to a friend and…I bought the Miata in January 2010 haha.
It’s about a standard miata 1600, and I have modified it progressively between 2010 and 2012.

I started with the chassis, this change allowed me some very good times during the trackday. Each trackday made me happy.
I exploited his potential in trackday for a few years, the time to build my house and a large garage for her, to have a place to tinker even more haha.
Recently I have added a turbo, which increase the power and performance of the car. This winter I polish this set up, and at the spring I will test it on track with the friends.
I love working on it as much as drive it on the track.

For now, I’ve been driving on the Nordschleife and some local circuits (Chambley, Chenevières), but I would like to travel to France to try other circuits (Dijon-Prenois, Nevers Magny-Cours, Alès-Cévènnes, …)  and why not in England (Cadwell Park, Silverstone, Brands Hatch, …).

Dein Projekt: Patricks stanced Red

26. Oktober 2018

  • Karrosserie
    • OEM Spoilerlippe vo/hi
    • Low Ducktail Heckklappe aus GFK
    • Hardtopspoiler aus ABS
    • Softtop ausgebaut (Weight Reduction, BRO!)
    • Hardtop verschraubt
    • Dunkle Scheinwerfer vom Golf 1/2
    • Radkästen gebördelt
    • Heckpartie sowie li/hi Kotflügel neu lackiert
    • Überrollbügel verbaut
  • Fahrwerk/Felgen
  • Innenraum
    • NRG Snapoff Lenkradnabe
    • Sparco Sprint Schalensitze Fahrer/Beifahrer
    • Sparco Lenkrad geschüsselt
    • IRP Shifter

Spec-Liste:
Vmaxx Xtreme Gewindefahrwerk
Zur Zeit Magnaflow Universal Schalldämpfer
IL Katersatz Rohr
Jass Performance intake stealth indicator
Jass Performance rear tow hook
Golf 2 Fadenkreuz Scheinwerfer ???
